![]() Located just 15 minutes away from Cowboys Stadium, the municipal Grapevine Golf Course has in recent times had nine holes added to the existing 18-hole course, and is excellent for beginners. ![]() The Tierra Verde Golf Club has a challenging layout through a natural setting of wetlands, trees and meadows, and in addition to its fine setting and its lighted driving range this municipal course is also famed for its Ventana Grille, which serves outstanding food. Five sets of tees for juniors, seniors and practice have been added under recent renovations. Stevens Park Golf Course, another course dating back to the 1920s, is located just west of downtown and was recently ranked in the top 20 Texas courses. There is a short-game area here for instruction and practice, and includes a putting green, chipper and bunker. Luna Vista was originally the L B Houston Course and was laid out in 1969. There are two other courses that come under City of Dallas Golf Program. The course is home to the Tony Martinez School of Golf and has very extensive practice facilities including a driving range, putting green, and a chipping and bunker area. Keeton Park is an 18-hole public course also under Dallas city management, and is located just seven miles southeast of downtown. A large number of juniors and parents play at this course, and consequently a number of family tees have been added in recent years. Only a few years younger is Cedar Crest, which hosted the 1927 PGA Championship and consistently rates as one of the best courses in Texas. Both these courses are under the city golf program. Tree-lined fairways and the ever-present White Rock Creek make this a challenging course for all skills levels. These days there are 36 holes at Tenison, with the original 18 holes being the Glen Course, the first municipally owned golf course in Dallas, laid out on land donated by Mr and Mrs E O Tenison. Only 10 minutes from downtown Dallas is the Tenison Park Highlands Course, which dates back to 1924. Six of these are under the management of City of Dallas Golf Program, which arranges professional instruction for all levels, including absolute beginners, juniors, and players wishing to upgrade their existing skills. Dallas has been named the #1 golf city by Golf Digest, and with more than 200 courses of varied levels of play along with ample sunshine and low green fees, there is plenty here to attract both seasoned players and new entrants to the game.įacilities include an outstanding collection of municipal courses.
